What if the brushes we choose to use actually reflect who we are? This is a question that I’ve spent countless hours pondering (OK, full disclosure, maybe not!). Check out this collection of images and associated human traits, where I explore the possibilities. Next time you use a brush, what does it say about you?
The Artist
While the rest of us are still trying to draw stick figures, this artistic prodigy paints with such skill and realism it would make any of the classic masters envious. This Michelangelo of the modern age has more partially finished canvases lying around their home than a museum exhibit. Color theory is their religion, and I wonder if they have more paint on their face than on their canvas!
The Woodworker
Ah, the woodworker! They're so obsessed with their craft that they dream about sanding wood. They've seen every episode of This Old House, twice! Their woodshop has not one dust collection system but two, just in case one fails. Their fully outfitted climate-controlled shop with assembly table resembles a hospital surgery room. Laser-guided power saws all but guarantee a measure once, cut twice operation. But let's be real, their woodworking hobby has taken up so much space in the garage that their cars might as well apply for residency elsewhere!
The Cheapskate
This person is the cheapskate of the family. They're like a ninja warrior when it comes to saving money. They'll drive 10 miles out of their way to find the cheapest gas station. And when it comes to dental floss, they start with the tiniest length, only to pull out two more spans to finish the job as if it's a magic trick, ultimately using twice as much as they need. As for their toilet paper habits, I'm not even going there!
The Auto Detailer
There's a special kind of love that only auto detailer aficionados can understand. They treat their 21-year-old car like royalty and put more effort into it than they do in their relationships. They have more lotions, potions, cotton swabs, and brushes than a beauty store. And when it comes to drying their car, they use a leaf blower - because nothing says "I love you" like a good old blast of air. It's like watching a parent fuss over their newborn, only the baby in this case, is a car that's old enough to drink!
The Chef
This budding chef dreams of being on the Food Network. They even talk to their eggs with a French accent. Their kitchen is better equipped than most 5-star restaurants, and their mixer is so high-tech that it could launch a rocket to the moon. The pantry has no room for food because it's chock-full of cookbooks. And their cleaning skills? Let's just say that their kitchen looks like a crime scene after every meal. But hey, at least they're the ones doing the cooking!
The Problem Solver
This person is the king or queen of the poop deck! Dealing with crap all day long isn't easy, but hey, at least they're helping everyone else clean up their messes in addition to their own. Maybe they deserve a medal for being the ultimate problem solver, or perhaps just a good pair of gloves!
The Bicyclist
This rabid bicyclist has a skin suit for each day of the week, and they DO ride every day of the week. Their bike has more carbon fiber than a 6th generation jet fighter. I mean, who needs to fly when you can ride a bike that's practically a spaceship on wheels? The chain and sprockets are cleaned and lubed to perfection. All in the name of saving a few precious seconds during their next ride. Because let's face it, if you can't be fast, you might as well look fast!
The Griller
Meet the self-proclaimed grilling guru, who thinks that outdoor cooking is a testosterone-fueled sport. This person has only but the best top-end electric grill with full-color touchscreen controls. It can grill, smoke, bake, roast, and BBQ with endless customizations. He thinks ordinary gas grills are for amateurs, and charcoal BBQs are something he’s only seen in the Smithsonian. He has more spices and rubs than the local library has books. Just don't let him catch you using ketchup on your steak - that's a grilling sin in his book!
The Handyman
Every household has one, the "I can fix it myself" handyman. Everyone knows this is just a ruse to buy more tools. Plumbing repairs are their spe-ci-alty. After turning off the water to the house and seven trips to the big box store, the problem is almost contained. By the time the problem is fixed, the rest of the family has already packed their bags and booked a room at the nearest hotel. It's like a mini vacation with a working bathroom!
The Camera Buff
The OCD camera buff is consumed with keeping dust off the front of their lens. Any dust on that lens will relegate the next Pulitzer Prize-winning photo to the trash. After every photo shoot, they quarantine each lens before a thorough cleaning in their ISO 14644-15 certified cleanroom. Once spotless (or should I say dustless), each lens is given a hug and gently tucked into bed. I'm pretty sure their routine also includes a bedtime story as well!
